Master Toilet

A quick guide to the light, fan, and freshener.

Keep the door closed when you’re not passing through.

Everyday controls

  1. Enter the room

Opening the door normally turns the light on when it has been off for at least 30 seconds.

  2. Set the light how you like it

Press the round Aurora button to turn the light on or off. Turn its dial to adjust brightness.

Press and dial operation confirmed October 19, 2026.

  3. When you leave

Press the Aurora button to turn the light off. Closing the door does not turn it off.

What happens automatically

  • Door lighting

The door rule will not turn the light back on during the first 30 seconds after you switch it off. An opening during that pause is ignored; it does not schedule a later turn-on.

  • Adaptive Lighting

The light changes brightness and white tone through the day: brighter and cooler during daylight, dimmer and warmer into the evening.

Turning the Aurora dial pauses those automatic adjustments. To resume them, use the button to turn the light off, then on again. Give it about 2 seconds to settle before turning the dial; turning the dial again keeps your manual setting.

  • Night Lighting

When Night mode is active, getting out of bed can turn this light on dim and warm. A light that's already on is left alone.

Adaptive Lighting pauses for this dim light. The routine normally turns its light off after everyone is back in bed or Night mode ends. A light you've adjusted can stay on, so check it when you leave.

  • Ventilation fan

The fan starts when the light turns on. If you don’t want it running, press the fan’s wall switch once to turn it off. Otherwise, it normally keeps running until the light has been off for 15 minutes.

  • Freshener

The regular cycle runs for 5 minutes, then pauses for 15 minutes.

Opening the door starts a 15-minute run; another opening restarts that time. Closing the door does not cancel it. The freshener also stays on while the light is on. Turning the light off does not end a door-triggered run already in progress.

Devices in this room

Show room devices and model numbers
  • Hue ceiling light, LCD007, and Lutron Aurora button and dial, Z3-1BRL, for on/off and brightness.
  • Exhaust fan and Lutron Diva wall switch, DVRF-5NS. The fan starts automatically with the light. Press its wall switch once to turn the fan off.
  • Aqara door sensor, MCCGQ11LM, for door-open lighting, the freshener, and the Shower Preheat reminder.
  • SONOFF temperature and humidity sensor, SNZB-02P, for monitoring the room.
  • Tapo dual smart outlet, P210M: the upper socket powers the freshener; the lower socket is always powered (always hot) and supplies the DREO DR-HSH006 portable heater. The heater uses its own thermostat. No smart-home automations are currently tied to this heater.
  • Aqara leak sensor, SJCGQ11LM, on the floor behind the toilet, directly under the water supply valve.

Controls outside this room

Shower Preheat: close this door before starting. If it’s open when preheat starts, the system can send an open-door reminder. Preheat keeps running; opening this door later doesn’t trigger that reminder.

Shower Preheat can also pause Adaptive Lighting here. The Aurora still controls the light; use the off/on steps above to resume automatic adjustments. Night Lighting skips turning this light on while Shower Preheat is running.

Bedroom headboard remote, Hue Dimmer v2 RWL022: pressing and holding its bottom button, then releasing it, also switches off this room’s light.

Living Room ecobee thermostat: controls the central heating and cooling that serve this room. The room’s SONOFF sensor monitors temperature and humidity; it doesn’t set the heater temperature.

Bedroom bed sensors start and end the Night Lighting routine. Home Assistant, the Hue Bridge, the Lutron bridge, and the Zigbee coordinator connect the room’s smart devices and rules.

A backup help contact and tested outage instructions still need to be added here.
